The alien autopsy, also known as Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction, was a hoaxed video of a group of people preforming a medical examination on a grey alien released by Ray Santilli in 1995 and was sold to various television networks and broadcasted in more than 32 countries.[1] Santilli claimed that he received the footage from an unidentified former military cameraman who chose to remain anonymous, and that the alien itself was recovered from the site of the 1947 Roswell UFO crash. Santilli also claimed that the film was taken on June 2, 1947. The video is a black and white, poor quality, 17-minute film.
In 2006, Santilli finally admitted that the film was not authentic and was a recreation of footage that he supposedly viewed in 1992, which became "unusable" by the time he made his film. Santilli claims that a few frames of the original film were embedded in his film, but never specified which ones. Despite Santilli's confession that the footage was a hoax, many true believers are still enormously convinced that the alien autopsy video is based on a real extraterrestrial autopsy.

- This film was featured in the five-DVD video The Alien Files: UFOs Under Investigation in the section "UFOs, lies, and videotapes".
- The original film was said to have never been turned over to the U.S. Air Force, yet the packaging that the original reels are sealed in bears the Air Force stamp. However, the stamp was not made official by the president at that time.[2]
