A "mothership", also spelled as two words (mother ship)[1], is an alleged large type of alien spacecraft that carries and commands another fleet of spacecraft. Motherships are often described as having a larger abduction beam and make a higher and stronger sound when in flight.
Alien motherships are often thought to be the headquarters of a specific race of aliens. However it is unknown as to whether or not there is more than one mothership.
